the hills are alive

with the sound of cracking ankles and knee pain... um. *ow*.

i can say with this third week of hill training, i am not much fonder of these inclined platforms. we did a hill in central park - from 90th st up to 102, and then this hill from 102-105th st. now, 3 blocks sound easy right? try going up and down the hill 5-6 times before they say you can go back, and THEN have to get BACK to 90th st.

one of the coaches stood in the half hill mark so you knew that you only had a half way, but almost every time i went back uphill, i was able to run a decent effort level up - and then it got harder as we kept going up to the 2nd traffic light and back. and the trick is - you have to be careful on the downhill, bc that on a continuous basis, pounding the pavement, is what will affect your knees and cause injury...

add in the fact that i didnt really want to run yesterday. bad week and its just hot and muggy. i'm glad that there are people i know there though. what's more amazing is the folk that ran the NY Half this sunday and still came to train!

NUTS !

But i hear active is better than inactive for an 'active recovery' so ... i guess its good. My girl Theresa said she ran the next Sunday after our hellish Palisades Park run post GWB and felt better, so i guess it is better than sitting around the house... (i did yoga, so there. haha)

This Sat i'll be OT, so i'll jus have to run in the complex and make it work... and of course, the yoga dvd is coming with. ha!
