final weeks...

so...

we have our final long run training tomorrow. its with the New York Road Runners - a 'marathon tune-up' and beginners are expected to hit 16-18 miles tomorrow morning.

its painful. in more ways than one -
first - its in central park at 6am.
second - its at 102nd st in central park at 6am
third - i have to register by 6:45 on e 89th st. and THEN get to the park.

and THIS is the course:

this is just not going well, now is it.

in other news, i did get new kicks last saturday -

thanks to my momma.
she can't make SF (damn stock market ... turns the whole world around when you dont even know it) so she got my kicks to be with me every step of the way ;)

we went to fleet feet in montclair, and the guy there did an awesome job - measured my foot, felt where i was telling him where it hurt, told me about my falling arches and picked out a load of sneakers for me to try on til we got a pair that worked.

i ran on them tuesday - we did a 5mile loop... hilly joint - from 97th up through 102 and over again for 3 times...

my foot was ok - the new joints definitely helped; but i did feel my tendon when we ended. i walked back to urban athletics and

the topic of convo for tues had been - how many of the marathon participators came back and wanted to do it again?

some of us are reaching this point in our first time around where its like DAMN ! we're almost there - that was nice, dont think we'll do it again...
and yet so many people say they've gotten hooked.
my girl anoushka and i are like...mmmm... i dont know!

any of you have thoughts on it ?

some interesting advice from a girl named christina i ran with said to get a pedicure before the marathon. before? you'd figure after right? something about taking care of your feet/toes before hand.

thought that was interesting - wonder if there's any other folk that think its a good idea. i'm definitly going for a full body post marathon.

and damn on spa week being the week before! (spaweek.org - oct 13-19. get on it ;))

that's all from me for now.

i'll hit back tomorrow and let yall know if i made it the full way, or if i was foiled again by this foot!

either way - sports docs appt this week.
(they're spoiled, he's only in one - 2 days a week in the 2 offices i called. WOW, i'm in the wrong industry - ha!)
