Race Day Details
On Sunday, October 19, 2008—while darkness still envelops the city—over 20,000 passionate runners will gather in Union Square and warm up their legs for a great cause. These runners, the majority of them women, will be getting ready to toe the line at the largest women’s-specific race supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. At 7:00 AM, the moment everyone has been preparing for, the gun will go off and the race will take to the streets of San Francisco!
Throughout the race, participants will encounter 26 entertainment stations intended to inspire and invigorate as well as Ghirardelli chocolate stations to keep endorphin and sugar levels up. 12 aid stations will help runners stay hydrated (with Arrowhead Water & Gatorade Endurance Formula) while two Lady Foot Locker Pedi-Care stations will make sure their feet are kept happy. (YAY!)

As the full and half marathoners cross the finish line victoriously, they will be met by the dashing Mill Valley Fire Department (decked out in tuxedos, nonetheless) who will present them with their fabulous finisher’s awards – the Nike Women’s Marathon exclusive Tiffany & Co. finisher necklace! With a beautiful Tiffany’s blue box in-hand, runners will pick up their official Nike Sport Essential Finisher’s T-Shirt, Luna Bar and other refreshments.

Don’t miss the Finish Village sponsored by those passionate about health, women, and wellness. Lady Foot Locker will have a finish line merchandise tent featuring the official Nike Women’s Marathon finisher merchandise. In addition, Kaiser Permanente will be sponsoring a wonderful post-race massage tent and Demalogica with provide Face Mapping for all those runners who really want to reach body awareness. And for all of those that trained with Nike Club Run SF, the Club Run VIP area will be open for the many dedicated Nike Club Run SF runners! As you wind your way through the Bear Naked granola parfaits and delicious Jamba Juice smoothies, follow the beat of the DJ spinning on the Main Stage, where the awards will be presented to our powerful and passionate winners!

Sunday, October 19, 2008 will be an unforgettable day of running and will include all the perks that come from learning to Run Like A Girl!

4:30AM Shuttles from AT&T Park begin transporting runners to Union Square
5:30AM Start area opens (bag check, information booths)
6:30AM Final shuttle to Union Square from AT&T Park
6:40AM Elite runner start
7:00AM RACE START for Marathon & Half Marathon
7:30AM- Friends/family shuttle from the NE corner of Geary & Taylor Streets to8:30AM course cheer locations and the finish
9:00AM Entertainment begins on Marathon Village Stage
9AM-3PM Shuttles transport runners from Great Highway & Fulton to Union Square/AT&T Park
10:00AM Half Marathon Awards Presentation
11:00AM Full Marathon Awards Presentation
3:00PM Final Shuttle departs for Union Square/AT&T Park
